Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib
Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib
Every 24th November, the Sikh community honours Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, commemorating his sacrifice on 24th November 1675. He bravely opposed forced conversions under Aurangzeb’s rule, selflessly giving his life for religious freedom, extending beyond his own community. His martyrdom wasn’t just a noble act; it was a profound statement for human rights and faith.
This day is more than historical memory; it symbolises the enduring importance of standing up for others, irrespective of their identity or differences. We love how Guru Tegh Bahadur’s ultimate sacrifice now serves as a beacon of hope and unity in adversity. In our times, where embracing diversity and inclusion remains crucial, his legacy should light a fire in all of us to champion the rights and freedoms of all. That’s what it stands for today.
