International Men’s Day
International Men’s Day
Let’s hear it for International Men’s Day! Held every year on November 19th, today is about celebrating the positive contributions that men bring to our communities, families and workplaces. It’s a time to address various aspects of men’s lives, like their mental health, positive role models, stereotypes and challenges.
Despite the name, International Men’s Day is about all of us. By celebrating men and recognising the challenges they face, we squash toxic masculinity and open a dialogue about the unique lived experiences of men and those who identify as male. Statistically, men are subject to specific mental and physical health challenges that can impact their quality of life. Sadly, in many countries, suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of forty-five. It’s a stark fact. By championing today, we can open healing conversations, create safe spaces and nurture progress.
