Invisible Disabilities Week
Invisible Disabilities Week
For one shifting week every October, Invisible Disabilities Week shines a spotlight on the unseen. Did you know that, in the UK, 1 in 5 adults live with a disability, and a whopping 80% of these are the kind you can’t see? Think chronic pain, mental health ups and downs, or the unique ways some brains are wired. This week is about being human together, in all our different ways.
Spreading awareness of this day can be really powerful. That’s because understanding hidden disabilities is a bit like opening a door to a world we might not know exists. This week, we’re invited to learn more, share stories, smash myths and just be there for each other. It’s a nudge to listen or offer a helping hand without judgement; to stand up for friends or colleagues whose battles might be invisible.
