East and South East Asian Heritage Month
East and South East Asian Heritage Month
Every September in the UK, we celebrate East and South East Asian Heritage Month, a time to honour the melting pot of cultures, histories, and contributions from East and Southeast Asian communities. Launched in 2021 by Besea.n, and reaching thousands, it illuminates the different stories and traditions that shape our society by exploring the real life experiences of migrants who have made Britain their forever home, and become the lifeblood of many industries and vital public services, like the NHS.

The emergence of this event is particularly poignant, hot on the heels of the community’s encounters with racial challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why this event is powerful. It asks us to embrace and celebrate the identities, cultures, and backgrounds of East and Southeast Asian communities, while providing an avenue for learning, connection, and solidarity among all allies.
