East and South East Asian Heritage Month
East and South East Asian Heritage Month
Every September in the UK, we celebrate East and South East Asian Heritage Month, a time to honour the melting pot of cultures, histories, and contributions from East and Southeast Asian communities. Launched in 2021 by Besea.n, and reaching thousands, it illuminates the different stories and traditions that shape our society by exploring the real life experiences of migrants who have made Britain their forever home, and become the lifeblood of many industries and vital public services, like the NHS.
This event feels especially meaningful, especially after the racial challenges East and Southeast Asian communities faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s what makes it so powerful-it invites us all to embrace and celebrate the identities, cultures, and backgrounds of these communities. It’s also a chance for learning, connection, and showing support, bringing everyone together to stand in solidarity.
