Holi
Holi
Holi festival, AKA the Festival of Colours, is a lively Hindu celebration that usually shimmers into our calendars in March, coinciding with the last full moon day of the Hindu lunar month Phalgun. This two-day festival begins with Holika Dahan, where a bonfire symbolises the victory of good over evil. The second day is marked by dancing, singing, exchanging sweets and most famously… a powder paint play-fight in the streets!
Holi signifies the advent of spring, promoting renewal and hope, while encouraging forgiveness and unity and the mending of broken relationships. Holi has now gained global recognition and is celebrated not only in India but also in Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Fiji, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The widespread celebration of Holi brings people of all backgrounds together, spreading happiness and fostering cultural appreciation. Happy Holi!
