World Sight Day
World Sight Day
It’s World Sight Day! Marked on the second Thursday of October each year, it serves up a heartfelt slice of awareness about vision health and the struggles of those with blindness and vision impairment. All around the world, from small gatherings to larger rallies, today brings people together – offering a chance to share, learn and support each other in the fight against preventable vision loss.
According to the WHO, 285 million people suffer from visual impairment, with 80% being preventable. Let that sink in. Can you see how spreading awareness brings this stark reality into focus? Too many folks lack access to basic eye care, like glasses or surgery – often due to financial barriers. This must change. Because vision care is a right, not a privilege. So, here’s your gentle nudge to join the conversation. Go forth and spread the word!
