Anti-Slavery Day
Anti-Slavery Day
Anti-Slavery Day, held annually on October 18th, spotlights the ongoing issue of modern slavery and human trafficking all over the world. Kickstarting in the UK in 2010, it gained real momentum and recognition! Globally, it spreads awareness about the millions still suffering under forced labour, sexual exploitation, child labour, and forced marriage.
More than awareness, today is a call to action to combat slavery. To stand up for freedom and human dignity – rights that we sometimes take for granted. The message pushes the need for collective action across diverse groups. Yes, there are challenges ahead. But today isn’t just about those challenges. It’s a global stage for solidarity, prompting us to fight together for the rights and freedoms of all people. Filmmakers, broadcasters and journalists are recognised in an awards ceremony for their contribution to illuminating this ongoing social justice campaign.
