International Day to Combat Islamophobia
The International Day to Combat Islamophobia, held annually on March 15th, was established by the UN to address the increasing incidents of Islamophobia worldwide. This date marks the anniversary of the tragic Christchurch mosque shootings in 2019 which claimed the lives of 51 people. It aims to draw attention to the harmful effects of fear, hatred, or prejudice against Islam and Muslims.
The truth is, we need more respect, tolerance, and understanding among different religions and cultures. Today echoes that sentiment – encouraging educational and public awareness efforts to break down those stereotypes about Islam and foster better interfaith dialogue. Why not join the conversation? We can all do our bit to rally more unity against discrimination and bigotry.
