International Workers’ Day
International Workers’ Day
Also known as Labour Day or May Day, International Workers’ Day on May 1st isn’t just an annual day off. It’s a shout-out to everyone toiling away, battling for fairer wages and decent work conditions. Thanks to folks who’ve stood up for their rights over the years, we’ve seen wins like minimum wage and paid leave in some countries. Yet, workers continue to fight for unfair wages, juggle part-time jobs or miss out on essential benefits like paid holidays or a reliable pension.
Around the globe May 1st is commemorated in a blend of celebration and protest. It’s a moment to pause from the grind and also to unite in solidarity, striving for better workplace conditions. It’s about making sure that fair treatment at work isn’t just a privilege but a universal right. Here’s to that!
