World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day
Every 1st of December is World AIDS Day – a date dedicated to raising awareness about AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) caused by the spread of the HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection. This is a chance for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV and to remember those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses.
Since 1988, World AIDS Day has been pivotal in bringing attention to the AIDS pandemic, educating the public about the virus, and mourning those who have succumbed to the disease. It also serves as a vital reminder for governments, health organisations, and individuals to renew their commitment to HIV prevention, treatment, and care. Today, the fight against AIDS faces modern challenges. Public perception views it as a crisis of the past, resulting in stagnant funding. But, despite improved treatment options, the HIV/AIDS crisis is still an international epidemic.
