Refugee Week
Refugee Week
Refugee Week, launched in 1998 in the UK, is a time to celebrate the immense courage, creativity, and contributions of refugees and asylum seekers. The dates change each year but always centre around World Refugee Day on June 20th. Think of it as a vibrant arts and culture festival, bringing people together through music, sports, art, and more. It’s all about recognising and appreciating the incredible resilience and talents of those who’ve had to leave their homes and build new lives.
Why is this week worth pencilling in the diary? Well, because it’s all about bringing people together. It’s a chance for us to step into the shoes of those who’ve faced unimaginable challenges just to find safety. By participating, we’re not just acknowledging their struggles; we’re also recognising the awesome strengths and talents they bring into our communities.
