Refugee Week
Refugee Week
Refugee Week, started back in 1998 in the UK, is a time to really appreciate the immense courage and creativity of refugees and asylum seekers. The dates shift, but it always kicks off around World Refugee Day on June 20th – this year, it’s 17th to 23rd June. Imagine it as a massive arts and culture festival, where everyone comes together through music, sports, art, you name it. All to celebrate the incredible contributions of those who’ve had to leave their homes.
Why is this week worth pencilling in the diary? Well, because it’s all about bringing people together. It’s a chance for us to step into the shoes of those who’ve faced unimaginable challenges just to find safety. By participating, we’re not just acknowledging their struggles; we’re also recognising the awesome strengths and talents they bring into our communities.
