World Autism Acceptance Week
World Autism Acceptance Week
World Autism Acceptance Week is all about celebrating the unique strengths, perspectives, and diversity of autistic people. It’s a time to come together, build understanding, and show acceptance, creating a world where everyone feels included and supported. Held every year in early April, it’s a great reminder to embrace what makes us all wonderfully different.
During the week, there’s a lot of emphasis on the challenges faced by autistic people everywhere. For instance, only 26% of autistic students feel happy at school, and just 29% are employed. What’s more, 70% of autistic people experience mental health issues, with over 150,000 in the UK waiting for assessments. These stats underscore the need for tailored support and better inclusion in health, education, and employment. This is a time to break down barriers and create more support and opportunities for autistic people.
