World Cerebral Palsy Day
World Cerebral Palsy Day
Every 6th October is World Cerebral Palsy Day. Since it started in 2012, it’s quickly become a global movement, reaching over 10 million people last year. It’s all about uniting those with cerebral palsy, their families, and organisations from over 100 countries. The aim? To build a more inclusive future where children and adults with cerebral palsy enjoy the same rights, access, and opportunities as others in society.
Cerebral palsy affects muscle control, impacting movement and posture, and it varies widely, from mild issues to more severe challenges. There are over 17 million people worldwide living with cerebral palsy, and about 350 million people connected to someone with this condition. Today is crucial for raising awareness and advocating for equality and inclusion for those with cerebral palsy. Folks often wear green, the colour symbolising the movement, to show solidarity and raise awareness.
