World Health Day
World Health Day
It’s World Health Day! Globally celebrated every April 7th, this is a wake-up call wrapped in celebration. Here’s a stark fact: 3.6 billion people, almost half the world’s population, lack access to essential health services. Let that sink in. This stat slaps us with the reality of our global health inequalities. Today is an opportunity to push for fair access to healthcare, no matter where you’re from.
Age, wealth, marital status, ethnicity, religion, caste, disability, education, homelessness, and migration status. All of these factors can lead to stigma and discrimination, affecting people’s access to health services. It’s a sharp reminder that there’s work to be done in the name of inclusivity. Taking healthcare for granted is a luxury not everyone can afford. Today nudges us to take a shared responsibility; in a pledge to make healthcare a right, not a privilege.
