Zero Discrimination Day
Zero Discrimination Day
Every March 1st is Zero Discrimination Day – a global initiative by the UN to promote diversity and inclusion. It commemorates the launch of the first UN AIDS (UNAIDS) program, which set out to combat discrimination against those living with HIV/AIDS. Today it shines a light on the injustices of discrimination based on things like race, age, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
Discrimination happens everywhere – in work, schools, law. You name it. But everyone should have the right to live a full, dignified life. That’s why today is massive. Because it highlights the need for more diversity and inclusivity in our lives. Discrimination doesn’t just harm those experiencing it. It also hinders social progress and economic development. Joining the conversation helps create a world where everyone can live free from prejudice, while pushing governments, institutions, and each other to cultivate a more just society.
