World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day
Every October 10th we recognise World Mental Health Day, dedicated to raising awareness and mobilising efforts in support of mental health. Established by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992, it provides an opportunity for mental health care professionals to talk about their work and what needs to be done to raise the global standard of care. Various events and activities, such as, educational sessions, workshops, public demonstrations and social media campaigns occur, all aimed at fostering a broader understanding of mental health issues.
Mental health challenges affect people from all walks of life, transcending age, gender, socioeconomic status, and cultural backgrounds. By dedicating a day to mental health, communities worldwide acknowledge the importance of mental well-being as a universal human right. By celebrating this day we acknowledge the need for greater understanding of mental health support in society.
