World Religion Day
World Religion Day
World Religion Day, on the third Sunday of January, is a joyous occasion, uniting people from all walks of life. It’s a time to celebrate difference, embrace shared values, and push for global unity. Our world is a melting pot of beliefs, cultures, and faiths – and today celebrates that, encouraging us to connect, learn, and appreciate the diversity around us.
Did you know, there are over 4,000 recognised religions, each with its unique traditions and communities? That said, a massive portion of the world – about three-quarters – follows one of the five major religions: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, or Judaism. Today promotes finding common ground among these diverse beliefs. Watch out for events that spotlight the shared principles across different faiths, like the universal “Platinum Rule” that teaches us to treat others as they wish to be treated. A very good rule indeed.
