Women’s History Month
Women’s History Month
Women’s History Month, celebrated every March, is dedicated to highlighting the often-overlooked contributions of women in history. It pays homage to people like Rosa Parks and Rosalind Franklin, whose positive impacts on the world are too frequently understated. Universities lead the charge with lectures and discussions, while museums and galleries showcase exhibitions that focus on the achievements of trailblazing women.
This month also shines a light on the additional challenges faced by minority groups, including women of colour and LGBTQ+ women, emphasising how their contributions have positively shaped society. Community events and workshops create spaces for empowerment and celebration. While libraries, book clubs, and theatres feature works that reflect these varied narratives. All topped off with awards and recognitions, today not only honours these unsung heroines but also advocates for continued progress towards gender equality and inclusivity.
